Convert a WebM video to MP4

Use this WebM to MP4 converter when a WebM video will not play, upload, or import in the app or device you need. MP4 is supported by many phones, browsers, and editing tools, although the codecs and streams inside a file still affect compatibility.

Choose one or more genuine .webm files up to 1 GiB each. Each valid file starts an independent conversion job with its own upload progress, processing status, result, error, retry, and delete actions.

WebM containers and supported streams

WebM is a video container that commonly holds VP8, VP9, or AV1 video and Opus or Vorbis audio. The converter checks that an upload is a genuine WebM file and contains usable video; an extension alone does not make a file valid.

Transparent WebM video and unsupported video or audio codecs are not accepted. Subtitle and other auxiliary tracks are not guaranteed to be preserved; a conversion can fail when the source streams cannot be carried into the MP4 output.

How WebM video is converted to MP4

When the source streams are compatible with MP4 and the output checks pass, the worker can remux them into an MP4 container without re-encoding. Otherwise, supported video is encoded as H.264 at the source resolution and audio is encoded as AAC when present.

The worker checks the resulting MP4 for the required source streams. If it cannot create a valid output while preserving them, the job reports an error instead of silently presenting an incomplete conversion. A fallback encode changes the media and can change its quality or file size.

Separate jobs and the 1 GiB file limit

Each selected WebM file gets its own worker selection, upload, progress updates, and output. A problem with one file does not change another file's job. The upload limit is 1 GiB per file; larger files must be reduced outside this converter before upload.

This page runs a fixed WebM to MP4 workflow. It does not provide controls for bitrate, codec, quality, resizing, trimming, or audio settings.

How to convert WebM to MP4

  1. Choose one or more genuine WebM (.webm) video files up to 1 GiB each.
  2. Each valid file starts its own WebM to MP4 job when a compatible worker is available; no output settings are required.
  3. Follow each file's upload and conversion progress. If a file cannot be converted while preserving its required streams, its job shows an error.
  4. Download the MP4 when it is ready, or use the delete action to remove the remaining conversion files from the worker.

WebM to MP4 FAQ

Is this a WebM to MP4 converter?

Yes. Choose a genuine WebM video with a .webm filename and the page starts one MP4 conversion job for each valid file. A filename extension alone does not guarantee that the contents are valid or convertible.

Which WebM codecs are supported?

The converter accepts WebM video using VP8, VP9, or AV1 and audio using Opus or Vorbis. A valid container must also contain usable video, and every required source stream must be preservable in the MP4 output.

Will a WebM video be re-encoded?

If its streams are compatible with MP4 and output validation succeeds, the worker can remux them without re-encoding. Otherwise, supported video is encoded as H.264 and audio as AAC when present. Re-encoding can change quality and file size.

Can I change the codec, quality, bitrate, resolution, or trim the video?

No. This page runs a fixed WebM to MP4 workflow and does not expose codec, quality, bitrate, resize, trim, or audio settings.

Are transparency and subtitles preserved?

Transparent WebM video is not supported. Subtitle and other auxiliary tracks are not promised; a job can fail if its source streams cannot be preserved in the MP4.

How large can a WebM file be, and can I convert multiple files?

Each upload can be up to 1 GiB. Select multiple files and each valid WebM starts an independent job with separate progress and a separate result.
